Maria Teresa Carunchio (ARG)

She was born in Buenos Aires, where she began her musical studies. Still very young she won, in her native city, the Piano Competition “V. Scaramuzza” and a scolarship that took her to Italy, where she has attended the Conservatoire “Santa Cecilia”, graduating with distinction. At the same time, she undertook an intense concert activity, both as soloist and in chamber music ensembles, performing a repertoire ranging from Baroque music to Contemporary composers, also receiving significant prizes and recognitions in national and international competitions; among them: “Busoni”, Bolzano; “Casella”, Naples; “Città di Senigallia” and “Città di Treviso” Prizes; “Speranza”, Taranto. She has also held masterclasses in Italy, in Norcia and Chianciano for the “Umbria Classica” Association; in Isernia for the European Union; in Cava de’ Tirreni, for the “Iacopo Napoli” Academy; in Bari, for the Centro Studi F. Liszt (Research Press); in Recanati, for the “B. Gigli” Music School; in Rome, for the “Academia Musicae” (“Eximia Forma”) Foundation and for the Tirana National Academy, Albania. A lot of her pupils have been awarded more than three-hundred prizes in important competitions, such as the “C. Abbado” (Premio Nazionale delle Arti); the “Steinway” (Jeunes Talents), Paris; “Roma”; “Riviera Etrusca”; “G. Rospigliosi”; “P. Argento”; “Premio Venezia”; “Rovere d’Oro” and  “V. Bucchi” Competitions. She has been piano teacher at the Conservatory “Rossini” of Pesaro from 1980 to 2007. She is now professor at the State Conservatoire “Cherubini” of Florence. She also takes part in juries in international piano competitions.
